Learn English Early! - Tutor Resource

This Programme is designed to enable a Tutor to deliver “Learn English Early!" sessions to parents and practitioners wishing to use signing to support the spoken language development of babies and toddlers.

Signs for Success will provide a quotation upon request for Training and a customised Signing to advance Speech, Language and Communication Tutor Resource. Tutors will use the Resource to support parents and practitioners or to set up the course in a college, training centre or workplace environment.

Aims

• To help participants to understand and support their child’s personal, social and emotional development.
• To help participants to develop their child’s learning ability.

Objectives

• To provide participants with knowledge and understanding of the Signs for Success methodology.
• To develop participants understanding of how sign supported communication supports children’s learning and development (in particular, early language, PSED and cognitive development).
• To increase participants’ signing vocabulary.
• To look at ways to use and embed sign supported communication into everyday routines and opportunities with their child.

Outcomes

On completion of the course participants will be able to:

• Use up to 300 signs and BSL alphabet.
• Implement a signing programme to support a child or children’s learning and development.
